SUMMARY:Birding in the Gap
DESCRIPTION:\nBirding in the Gap Series Returns in 2026!\n\n\nThe Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park is excited to announce the return of its Birding in the Gap programs, offered on the second Saturday of February, April, June, and November in 2026.\n\n\nThe first program of the year will take place on Saturday, February 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. February’s theme is the Great Backyard Bird Count—a perfect opportunity to enjoy nature while contributing to a global citizen science project. We hope you’ll join us for this fun and educational experience!\n\n\nParticipants will meet at the museum’s front gate before exploring the scenic grounds and strolling along the beautiful greenbelt on the Powell River in Big Stone Gap. This easy, accessible walk is a wonderful way to immerse yourself in the fascinating world of birds.\n\n\nPrograms will be held rain or shine, so please dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes. Binoculars are encouraged but not required, and no registration is necessary.\n\n\nFor more information about the Birding in the Gap series, call the park at 276-523-1322.\n\n
