The 2025 Coal Classic Pickleball Tournament, hosted by Appalachia Parks & Recreation, is set to celebrate the community’s rich history while introducing the exciting sport of pickleball to the region. The competition will feature Women’s Doubles, Men’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles categories, allowing players of all skill levels to participate in a fun and competitive atmosphere.
This tournament is special because it aims to honor the basketball tournament that had been a longstanding tradition at Appalachia High School. For many years, that event brought the community together, and the Coal Classic Pickleball Tournament is an effort to carry forward that legacy, offering an exciting and new way for locals to unite and compete.
The entry fee for the tournament is $25 per person. If participants wish to compete in two different divisions, the fee increases to $35. This cost ensures the event can run smoothly, and all proceeds will go towards the development of a pickleball facility in Appalachia, which is a project that will serve the community for years to come.
