SEO JUNGMIN TO GIVE FREE CONCERT AT MECC
Big Stone Gap, VA – Seo Jungmin is a Korean Gayageum artist and composer who pushes the boundaries between traditional and contemporary music with her exceptional skills on the 25-string traditional Korean instrument. Seo Jungmin will perform with percussionist You Byoungwook and Pansori vocalist Kim Yulhee on Wednesday, Nov. 20th at 7 p.m. in the Goodloe Center on the campus of Mountain Empire Community College. The concert is free and open to the public! This performance is brought to you by the Pro-Art Association in conjunction with the W. Seo Jungmin is a remarkable musician whose innovative approach to traditional Korean music has earned her worldwide acclaim, and her exceptional talent and creativity continue to make her an influential figure in the contemporary music scene. With her refreshing blend of Gayageum, shamanic vocals, and percussion, Seo Jungmin has mesmerized audiences around the world. As a member of the renowned Korean traditional music duo Su:m, Seo has earned global recognition through performances at major festivals such as WOMEX, WOMAD, and SXSW.
You can still get tickets to the 48th Pro-Art season! Offering an impressive selection of theater, jazz, and some truly unique performances by storytellers, puppeteers, and even an aerial circus—there’s something for everyone this season and a lot of additional opportunities to be adventurous and try something new. At less than $2 per show, Pro-Art’s $40 season ticket ($35 for seniors) represents some of the strongest and most accessible arts programming in the country, with children and students admitted free to all performances.
