Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park
to Host “Lunch on the Lawn” with The Papa Joe Smiddy Bluegrass Band
Big Stone Gap, VA. The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park will host its last “Lunch on the Lawn” Music Series on Sunday, September 22, from 2 to 3 p.m., featuring local artist The Papa Joe Smiddy Bluegrass Band (previously, the UVA Wise Bluegrass Band).
This is a collegiate level group that strives to keep the traditional music of SWVA alive while also experimenting with music and genres outside of bluegrass. In the past, the group has performed on international stages in Luxembourg and France, and local venues such as The Country Cabin in Norton, VA. Laye’s Hardware in Coeburn, VA. and the Papa Joe Smiddy Music Festival at Natural Tunnel State Park.
Park staff and volunteers will have crafts and activities for children at each Lunch on the Lawn program. So, bring the whole family out and have some fun!
Join us in the beautiful Victorian Garden and enjoy an hour of music underneath the shade trees and enjoy an afternoon of home-grown music, fun and entertainment on the lawn of the museum.
The “Lunch on the Lawn” event is free and open to the public. Participants should bring their own lunch. For more information, please call the Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park at 276-523-1322.
