Northern Ireland: Can Sean and Jon Live in Peace? An American Legal Perspective

(Brandylane Publishers, 2003) Written by Carol Rasnic, this book contains much about her growing up in Big Stone Gap, and compares the laws addressing religious discrimination in Northern Ireland with American law and race discrimination, particularly pre-and-post Brown vs. Board of Education (1954) and the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

From Carol:

“I had interviews with about 25 of the principals in the 1998 peace agreement in Northern Ireland (the Good Friday Agreement), and the book includes the content of those meetings, as well as my experiences living in Belfast as a Fulbright Distinguished Professor, Queens University, Belfast, during this time.”
