Join us for a week-long celebration from June 27th to July 4th as Big Stone Gap decks out in red, white, and blue to honor our nation’s independence! Enjoy live music, delicious food from SW Virginia vendors, games, inflatables, races, contests, and more—culminating in our spectacular 4th of July Parade and a massive outdoor concert at Bullitt Park, ending with one of the region’s most dazzling fireworks displays!​

FRIDAY, JUNE 27th

• Independence Extravaganza Kickoff Botch Boys Block Party featuring Rock & Rap
  Get ready, Big Stone Gap — the Independence Extravaganza Kickoff Party is coming in hot! Join us for the Botch Boys Block Party on Thursday, June 27th from 5PM to 10PM for a night packed with Rock & Rap, good vibes, and epic summer fun!​

SATURDAY, JUNE 28th

• Hawaiian Luau Block Party at the Visitor Center | 5 PM–11 PM
  Don your best Hawaiian attire and enjoy DJ JP’s rooftop beats, a giant sandbox, snow cones, food trucks, music, cornhole, games, contests, and prizes!​

• Pickleball Tournament Sponsored by 404 Cafe & Creamery
  Show off your skills and compete for glory!​

SUNDAY, JUNE 29th

• Far Fetched PetQuarters Annual Pet Show/Contest at Miners Park Stage
  Bring your beloved pet—whether they walk, fly, crawl, or swim—to compete for amazing prizes and trophies!​

TUESDAY, JULY 1st

• Country Kitchen Annual Dessert Baking & Hotdog Eating Contest
  Indulge your sweet tooth or test your appetite in these delicious competitions!

  Do you think you can eat the most hotdogs in 5 minutes? Children and Adult competition with cash prizes

• 3 ON 3 Basketball Tournament at Bullitt Park

WEDNESDAY, JULY 2nd

• Gospel Night in Miners Park | 7 PM
  Experience an uplifting evening of gospel music in the heart of town.​

THURSDAY, JULY 3rd

• Let Freedom Sing Karaoke Contest at Miners Park | 5 PM
  Hosted by The Yeti, CTM Entertainment, and Brandon Maggard Music. Sing your heart out for cash prizes and gift bags! Sign up at the Visitor Center or on the day of the event at Miners Park.​

FRIDAY, JULY 4th

• Gap Partnership Pancake & Mimosa Breakfast at the Visitor Center | 8 AM–11 AM
  Start Independence Day with a delicious breakfast!​

• 4th of July Freedom 5K at the Visitor Center | 9 AM
  Day-of registration begins at 8 AM. Get your run in before the festivities!​

• 4th of July Parade through Wood Ave | 4 PM
  Celebrate with the community in our patriotic parade!​

• Independence Day Celebration at Bullitt Park | 4 PM–11 PM
  $5 entry fee; kids 12 and under free. Enjoy food trucks, inflatables, a cornhole tournament, wine/beer garden, and live music starting at 4 PM with Scratch River, followed by Kennedy Faith, leading up to Those Guys! Hosted by DJ Jahmal Potter. The night concludes with one of the best fireworks displays in SW Virginia at dusk!​
