GIVING TUESDAY – Around the Corner Thrift Store & The Holiday Shop
Giving Tuesday is coming fast! So Mark Your Calendars for December 3rd! His Ministries is kicking off its year-end fundraising campaign with #GivingTuesday. Our goal is to raise $5,000 to complete building projects that were left over from last year.
We are in desperate need completing The Edge and my office work projects and replacing a window in the upstairs apartment. The work consists of laying carpet on the stage in the teen center, replacing the floor in the center’s bathroom and repairing some bathroom plumbing.
We have completed many work projects in the last months that depleted our building resources. The roof and the repairs on the outside of the Thrift Store was first priority because of water damage. I did not account for the cost increase in building supplies, which used up our extra resources.
After the last surprise stinking problem arose right before Helena, I just shook my head and said, that’s it. We have to slow down to think. I could not continue to be pulled in one direction to another. The cost increase in building supplies took me by surprise.
The Edge will open when the few projects are complete. When the Edge opens, I believe the first of the year, we won’t be stopping for work to be done in the Edge and my office. Then Edge will be fully renovated! You can help us in this great need for the youth in our communities. Youth come from Lee and Wise Counties to attend the Edge! Will you help us move these obstacles out of the way, so The Edge can open without further ado?
You’ve heard these old sayings before, when it rains it pours, or if it’s one thing it’s another. These old clichés are heard around His Ministries often. Which can be expected if your main facility is a 90- year old building. No matter.. We can never give up when we know a great thing is happening. We won’t give up in completing the work, because our youth are worth it! I’ve seen how the Edge helps youth. Please help us with this vital program for our community.
I work with youth weekly, and they look forward to attending the Edge and helping to get the Edge open again.
One new youth came to the Edge on a Saturday and worked some. He said, “I love this place. I want to come and help and hangout.”
When you give to His Ministries in honor of #GivingTuesday on December 3rd…
… you are giving hope to youth in making better choices
… you give hope to women and men in their ability to change their life’s path
… you help families learn more about substance abuse disorder
… you help area agencies find resources for their clients
… all programs & services are free
The Edge is a great place for youth to hang out with people who care and know they’re growing up and need a safe place to be with friends.
Make sure to save the date, December 3rd, and SHARE with friends and family so they can also participate in #GivingTuesday and help His Ministries in this global day of giving!
