James K Palmer was born in the southern section of Big Stone Gap. He graduated from Powell Valley High School and spent forty one years in the United States Air Force. He was a pilot and Media Relations Instructor. James wrote articles relaying information to the public about the missions and the Air Force and it’s air crafts. Upon his retirement, he came home to the Gap that he always called home and joined the BSG Fire Department where as volunteer fireman he became the Safety Officer for 6 years. James writes books about these brave men and the wonderful people of Big Stone Gap. You can find his books for sale at the Big Stone Gap Visitor Center.
Future Books will include a Mountaineer Cook Book and an in depth history of Big Stone Gap.
