Josh Hill Information

Josh Hill originally hails from Dickenson County, Virginia and currently resides in Big Stone Gap. Josh is a well-rounded, lifelong musician who enjoys many genres of music and can play drums, bass, and guitar. However, singing is his greatest passion and it is his powerful, soulful voice that truly shines in his onstage performance.

Josh’s musical journey stretches back as far as the second grade, when he first began singing in local talent shows. He formed his first band as a freshman at Clintwood High School. Shortly afterwards, he taught himself to play guitar so that he could perform solo shows. While in college, Josh became a local staple, playing acoustic gigs several nights a week at local and regional venues and collaborating with many other local artists.

From 2006 – 2014 Josh fronted local hard rock band, Lethality. Lethality earned an endorsement from Knucklehead Strings and garnered a solid local following, beloved for their tight, high energy, hard rock shows and Josh’s commanding stage presence as lead vocalist.

Josh can currently be found playing acoustic shows in the local region. He can also be seen playing bass or guitar and singing lead vocals in his rock band, Cover the Mirrors. Many of the band’s songs, principally written and arranged by Hill, are inspired by Appalachian tradition, superstition, and folklore. You can hear these tunes at a Cover the Mirrors show or take in the acoustic versions at one of Josh’s solo shows.

Josh’s acoustic set touches on many genres of music, from classic and neotraditional country to classic rock, 90’s & 00’s alternative, and even some hard rock tunes. Regardless of the kind of music you may enjoy, if you attend Josh’s acoustic performance you’re sure to hear songs that you will know and love!
