Big Stone Gap, VA. The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park will offer a monthly Prowl the Powell nature series on the third Saturday of each month. The April series will be on Saturday, April 20, from 1 to 4 p.m. The monthly Prowl the Powell nature series will be hosted by park rangers and volunteers.

Participants who are interested in the Prowl the Powell nature series should meet volunteers and park staff at the front gate of the museum. Dates will stay the same, but times are subject to change. The April Prowl the Powell nature series will be Spring Wildflowers. Participants will begin their journey with a walk along the Greenbelt in beautiful Big Stone Gap and learn about the wildflowers that call the Powell River home. The Powell River is an ideal spot to look for spring flowers in early spring. Considered the most biodiverse waterway in the nation, just behind the Clinch River with which it converges, the Powell River is home to an incredible abundance of wildlife and environmental wonders.

The Prowl the Powell monthly nature series will be held rain or shine. Participants are asked to wear appropriate clothing for the weather and comfortable walking shoes. Binoculars are encouraged but not required. Registration is not required for this program.
